I'm not going to get into the "are we supposed to eat meat or not" argument, because frankly, I was a vegetarian for ten years before becoming vegan, and I've seen every argument from every angle that can possibly be made. I'm all for laws stipulating free range everything - I'll take the higher meat prices.Ĭonflating eating turkey with supporting battery farming, however, is fucking stupid, alienates the majority of everyday sensible people who do not conflate the two, and can only hurt their cause.ġ. There's no reason why farm animals can't be given as pleasant a life as possible until they are slaughtered, and battery farming in all forms is horrible, fact. However, while I think this 'game' is pretty pointless, PETA and similar groups have something of a point. I'll leave that to the greengrocer, and meat preparation to butchers, until the world turns upside-down. I've never done it but I'd not mind learning how to dress meat if it became necessary - however it's not something I really fancy doing, any more than for example growing my own veg. I am fine with eating meat in the full knowledge that it was a living creature. I suppose I have to respect vegetarians' choices, but personally I think it's daft not to eat meat simply because you feel bad for the animals. One look at our teeth and the digestive enzymes in our guts proves this. Humans are omnivores we have evolved to, and are thus meant to, eat both plants and animals. Veganism also plays a large role in my buddhism, but that's a different discussion. It would be different if everybody raised their own animals, or bought from small, local farms, but that is not the case. And being out in the real world, I can't live with the fact that nobody else does, that animals are abused on a daily basis when we don't even have to eat them. My parents would help me kill them.īut we took incredible care of those animals. I knew how to gut chickens, rabbits and fish. I had people saying to them "we'll see each other on the plate" =D I guess it's not a game that will change me, them or any person above 15. Oh well, I saw them being killed and it was not in a movie. just know that I am better than you :D because I know how to live without animals, motherfuckers. If you feel guilty about the fact that you have to kill things to eat them, then maybe this is a good confrontation for your conscience.
